The Queen’s Six have had to cancel their appearance at the Solent Music Festival due to royal duties at Windsor Castle and elsewhere. There are no plans to reschedule this concert at present.
In its place, we have decided to celebrate our 10th anniversary with a piano recital by our Artistic Director Sam Haywood featuring music from previous festivals and launch events. Sam has performed all over the world both as soloist and chamber musician, touring with violinist Joshua Bell for many years. He has recorded for Hyperion, Sony, Deux-Elles and has frequently broadcast on BBC Radio 3.
Sam will be joined by our friend Katherine Spencer, one the world’s top clarinettists, who recently became Principal Clarinettist of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. Katherine has taken part in every festival since we started back in 2013 as a performer, school workshop presenter, orchestral fixer, trustee and general advisor.
