Christopher Brayne has worked as repetiteur and assisted in coaching the City of Birmingham Symphony Chorus and BBC National Chorus of Wales under Simon Halsey. Formerly Organist and Master of the Choristers at Bristol Cathedral, England his training began as a chorister at Lichfield Cathedral. Later he held organ scholarships at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle and Emmanuel College, Cambridge. From 1983 to 1990 he was assistant organist at Wells Cathedral, Coordinator of Vocal studies and Organ Tutor at Wells Cathedral School. He studied with Gillian Weir and Jean Langlais. He holds a Masters degree in Music from Cambridge University and diplomas in organ performance and choir training from the Royal College of Organists and the Royal College of Music.

Mr Brayne has given recitals at most of the important venues in the UK and has toured Germany, New Zealand and Holland. He has worked with the Grand Rapids Boys Choir, the Houston Children’s Chorus and appeared as a concert organist in the USA making 3 solo tours prior to his appointment in Charlotte. He has directed courses for RSCM and ABCD both in UK and in America, working with boys, girls and adult choirs. He has made a number of recordings for the Priory label and the BBC and was artistic director for the Annual Convention of the Association of British Choral Directors which took place in Exeter in 1998.He has been President of the Bristol and District Organists Association. Mr Brayne is a member of ACDA, AAM and Chorus America. As a pianist he enjoys playing music from the Broadway Shows as well as classical and popular songs.
